The Laba Festival (Chinese:臘八節/腊八节) is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the eighth day of the twelfth month of the lunar Chinese calendar (known as Layue, or in Chinese， 臘月）. In China, it is customary on this day to eat Laba Congee.臘八節，又稱「臘八」 是指農曆臘月（十二月）初八，原意是祭祀祖先和神靈，祈求豐收、吉祥和避邪。在中國，有臘八節喝臘八粥的習俗。
相傳這一天是釋迦牟尼在佛陀耶菩提下成道並創立佛教的日子，故又被稱為「佛成道節」。
